Loading Docs is a launchpad for New Zealand documentary shorts and documentary careers. As an initiative, Loading Docs is committed to supporting and developing diversity in both filmmaking talent and the platforms on which New Zealand documentary stories are seen. The programme takes filmmakers from idea to distribution and provides participants with support, training and networks.

Attracting an audience of 15 million viewers so far, Loading Docs 2021 will offer audiences an upcoming collection about New Zealand’s most important stories.

Our new season is out now, mixing animation, poetry, underwater cinematography and more to create eight powerful short documentaries. From an emotional story about a life-changing decision to approaching cultural appropriation with humour, there is something for everyone in this deep and watchable season.

Seen on a myriad of platforms online, on-demand and on the big screen. They have featured on high profile sites such as Short of the Week, The Atlantic, The World’s Best Ever, Great Big Story, Huffington Post, Upworthy, National Geographic and Film Shortage as well as achieving Staff Picks on Vimeo.

The success extends to primetime broadcasts in New Zealand and selection in festivals such as DOC NYC, SXSW, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts, Boston International Film Festival, New Zealand International Film Festival, Show Me Shorts, Out Takes, Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and FIFO.

Loading Docs launch another great collection of short homegrown docos… representing a unique professional development opportunity for filmmakers—and equally important, if not more so, some fantastic short-form viewing.– Flicks.co.nz
